Rifle armor that bends. Not breaks.
Dragon Skin™ is the original disc-architecture flexible rifle armor system — a full-coverage, multi-hit alternative to conventional flexible shoot packs and rigid SAPI plates. Overlapping ceramic strike-face discs bonded to an advanced UHMWPE backer, independently tested to NIJ Level III / RF2.
The rigid-plate compromise, finally rebuilt.
A monolithic ceramic plate protects only the plate footprint and stops moving when you do. Flexible rifle armor wraps the torso, contours to the body, and continues protecting in dynamic positions where rigid plates create gaps. Dragon Skin™ is the platform built around that principle.
Overlapping disc geometry
Hundreds of ceramic discs share load across neighborhoods — no single point of failure, no rigid blind spots.
Multi-hit by design
Localized impact stays localized. Adjacent discs preserve full ballistic integrity, hit after hit.
Full range of motion
Flexes through prone, vehicle ingress, climbing, and sling transitions. Armor that fights with you.
Independently lab tested
DS 3.0 and DS 2.5 systems tested to NIJ Level III / RF2 protocols at certified U.S. ballistic labs.
Two flexible rifle armor platforms. Three U.S.-built systems.
Hexar™ leads our value-tier flexible rifle armor. Dragon Skin™ is our premium disc-architecture system for full-coverage protection.

Hexar™ Titan Flexible Rifle Plate
Patented U.S.-built flexible rifle armor (Patent 9,534,872 B2). Hexagonal tile architecture defeats 7.62×39 MSC, 5.56 M855, and M80 ball — a direct competitor in the flexible rifle plate market.
- Patent 9,534,872 B2
- Defeats 7.62×39 MSC / M855 / M80
- Hexagonal flexible tile array
- Buy America Act compliant

Dragon Skin™ DS 3.0
Boron carbide (B4C) ceramic disc array over advanced UHMWPE. Full-coverage flexible rifle armor for tier-one operators and federal agencies.
- NIJ Level III / RF2
- B4C ceramic discs
- Full-wrap torso coverage
- 3.4 lb/sq.ft areal density

Dragon Skin™ 2.5 Flexible Plate
SiC/TiB₂ hybrid tile disc array in a flexible plate format. Proven multi-hit rifle defeat at a price point built for everyday operators.
- NIJ Level III
- Hybrid SiC/TiB₂ ceramic
- Contours and folds in-hand
- Drops into standard carriers
Rigid SAPI · Hexar™ · Dragon Skin™
How the three dominant rifle-defeat architectures compare on the dimensions that matter once the round leaves the muzzle.
| Dimension | Rigid SAPI plate | Hexar™ | Dragon Skin™ flexible |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coverage | Plate footprint only | Plate footprint only | Full-wrap torso |
| Multi-hit at point of impact | Limited (plate cracks propagate) | Yes — segmented butt-to-butt tiles increased ability | Yes — isolated to disc neighborhood |
| Mobility in prone / vehicle / sling | Restricts | Improved | Full range of motion |
| Strike face | Monolithic ceramic | Ceramic tiles affixed to flexible substrate | Overlapping ceramic discs |
| NIJ rifle rating | III / IV / RF2 / RF3 | III / RF2 | III / RF2 (independently tested) |
Boron carbide. UHMWPE. Geometry.
Each Dragon Skin™ disc is a discrete ceramic strike-face element bonded to an advanced ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) backer. Discs overlap in an imbricated pattern — a scale architecture — so the strike face is functionally continuous, but the panel as a whole remains free to flex, contour, and articulate around the torso. Defeat happens at the disc neighborhood, not the panel.

What is flexible rifle armor?
+
Flexible rifle armor is body armor capable of defeating rifle-caliber threats while still conforming to the body. Stealth Armor builds two platforms: the patented Hexar™ Titan hexagonal-tile flexible plate and the Dragon Skin™ overlapping-ceramic-disc system — both NIJ Level III multi-hit, both manufactured in the USA.
How does Hexar™ Titan compare to other flexible rifle plates?
+
Hexar™ Titan is the direct U.S.-built, patented (Patent 9,534,872 B2) competitor in the flexible rifle plate market. It defeats 7.62×39 MSC, 5.56 M855, and M80 ball in a flexible hexagonal tile architecture, processed and assembled in Missouri City, Texas — Buy America Act compliant.
What makes Dragon Skin™ different from other flexible rifle armor?
+
Dragon Skin™ is the original disc-architecture flexible rifle armor. While most other flexible products deliver a Level III shoot pack in plate form, Dragon Skin™ DS 3.0 delivers full-wrap torso coverage with overlapping ceramic discs.
Is it NIJ rated?
+
Our DS 3.0 and DS 2.5 systems are independently lab-tested to NIJ Level III / RF2 protocols. Hexar™ Titan was certified to the NIJ 0101.06 standard, and possesses the highest V-50 against the M80 Ball in the industry — 3502 ft/sec V-50. Full reports are available to qualified agencies on request.
How does flexible armor compare to a rigid plate?
+
Rigid plates protect only the plate footprint, remain rigid and don't provide optimal comfort in various operation situations; Flexible Hexar™ and Dragon Skin™ systems contour to the body and continue protecting in prone, vehicle ingress, climbing, and sling transitions.
